8 Sep
Summary
- Paramedical students haven't received stipends for six months.
- Students joined in March under a government bond-based service arrangement.
- They are owed Rs 12,000 monthly stipend each.
Fifty paramedical students at Dhanbad's Shaheed Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital (SNMMCH) have reported a critical issue: their stipends have been pending for six months. The students, part of the 2023-25 batch, began their mandatory bond-based service in March of this year under a state government initiative. Despite completing nearly six months of service as technicians in various hospital departments, none have received the promised monthly stipend of Rs 12,000.
These students approached the deputy medical superintendent of Dhanbad Sadar Hospital to highlight their plight. They expressed that the extended delay in payments has caused considerable financial difficulties. The students are urgently appealing to the health department to intervene and ensure the prompt and regular disbursement of their stipulated stipends, emphasizing the need for immediate action to alleviate their financial strain.
