Uniform for All, a Greater Manchester charity dedicated to recycling school uniforms, is set to receive vital funding from Comic Relief. In its six years of operation, the volunteer-led project has supplied free uniforms to over 2,000 families across Rochdale. The organization operates under the principle "If we have it, you can have it," anonymously sending thousands of items to parents for collection at 16 libraries.
The charity estimates it has distributed more than 15,000 items in Rochdale, a city where 40% of children experience poverty. Requests for uniforms have surged, doubling between December 2025 and January 2026. The organization's chief executive, Julie Waller, highlighted the significant demand, noting they can dispatch up to 55 bags of uniforms daily.
Users like Wendy Howard, a single mother of two, have found the service invaluable. It has provided financial relief, enabling her to purchase essentials like food and specific clothing for her children. Volunteer Lorraine Thompson described the work as heartwarming, emphasizing the positive atmosphere and the tangible difference made to recipients' lives. The Comic Relief funding will be instrumental in acquiring high-demand items such as shoes, socks, tights, and blazers.
