Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) recently welcomed students from the University of Kochi for a collaborative international exchange program. The five-day initiative, organized by UMS's Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition, served as a precursor to a planned Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities.
Participants engaged in practical learning experiences, including visits to the Penampang Nutrition Information Centre and local hospitals. They also participated in nutrition education, explored Malaysian culinary traditions from a nutritional anthropology viewpoint, and shared research findings.
The program was designed to offer students a comparative look at nutrition practices and healthcare systems in Malaysia versus Japan. This exchange reinforces UMS's ambition to be a leading international hub for nutrition studies and bolster future research partnerships between Malaysia and Japan.
