Hadlow College in Kent has introduced a unique falconry qualification, marking what is described as a UK first in dedicated training for this field. The comprehensive course provides students with essential practical and theoretical knowledge, working towards a nationally recognised RAPTOR Award.
This new program addresses a growing demand for skilled practitioners in the bird of prey sector. Talia Hassan from Willows Bird of Prey Centre highlighted the sector's significant expansion over the last decade, driven by experiences, demonstrations, and pest control services.
The six-week course, held in Sevenoaks, covers all critical aspects of falconry. Participants will gain expertise in bird husbandry, legal requirements, safety protocols, and the free-flying of birds, working in small groups with dedicated avian supervision.
