The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has launched commemorative gold and silver coins in honor of Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence's (MBZUAI) fifth anniversary. This milestone recognizes MBZUAI's journey since welcoming its inaugural student cohort in 2020 and its subsequent achievements up to 2025.
The gold coin's obverse features MBZUAI's Knowledge Centre, the years 2020-2025, and inscriptions in Arabic and English, including the university's motto. The reverse displays the UAE national emblem. The silver coin shares similar obverse designs, including the Knowledge Centre and university name, alongside geometric patterns.
Its reverse side indicates a nominal value of AED50 and the CBUAE's name in both languages. The issuance includes 10 gold and 500 silver coins, each weighing 50 grams. This initiative underscores the UAE's commitment to innovation and MBZUAI's role in advancing AI education and research.
Saif Humaid Al Dhaheri highlighted the coins as a testament to recognizing national educational initiatives and MBZUAI's specialized academic model. Eric Xing expressed that the coins signify a profound acknowledgment of MBZUAI's contribution to the UAE's strategic evolution and its ambition to become a global AI research hub.
