As of November 14th, 2025, a unique educational initiative has been engaging thousands of students in the UK with the thrill of Formula 1 racing. Through a partnership between Oracle Red Bull Racing and Milton Keynes College, approximately 4,000 primary and secondary school students in the Milton Keynes and Rushden areas have had the opportunity to explore STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) careers by participating in hands-on F1-inspired activities.
The program has allowed students to code miniature F1 cars, build gas-powered racing kits, and even take part in a pit stop challenge, all with the goal of "disrupting the talent pipeline" and exposing them to the diverse range of careers available in the motorsport industry. According to Rosie Thompson from Milton Keynes College, the initiative aims to "open their eyes to careers they perhaps haven't even thought about," particularly targeting young girls who may have previously disengaged from STEM subjects.
One of the program's ambassadors, Calum Nicholas, who worked as part of an F1 pit crew for seven years, emphasized the importance of providing early exposure to these opportunities. He noted that despite his own interest in engineering at school, he only found true inspiration after seeing motorsport up close later in life. The program seeks to address this gap and inspire the next generation of STEM professionals.
