Exam Horror: Period Distress Ignored by Invigilator
25 Mar
Summary
- Student denied washroom access during menstruation mid-exam.
- Board chairman stated no rules prohibit washroom use.
- Invigilator's actions are under review by education authorities.

A shocking incident unfolded during an SSC board exam on March 13 in Nashik, where a student was reportedly denied permission to use the washroom by an invigilator upon experiencing menstruation. The student recounted being refused access twice, leading to significant embarrassment and an inability to concentrate on her science paper.
Following the exam, the student's cousin lodged a complaint with the board authorities. State board chairman Trigun Kulkarni has condemned the invigilator's actions, emphasizing that no rules prohibit washroom usage during examinations. He stressed the importance of allowing students to attend to natural bodily needs.
The Nashik divisional board has initiated action by issuing a show-cause notice to the chief invigilator, who is also the principal of the school. A response is expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the denial of access and the invigilator's adherence to examination protocols. The student's family has requested sensitisation of invigilators rather than punitive action against the individual.
