Springboard Opportunity Group, a charity initiated by mothers, is marking its 40th anniversary. Founded in Clevedon in 1986, the organization was created by parents seeking support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Over four decades, Springboard has grown significantly while maintaining its core mission. It offers essential play and learning sessions for children, including those without a diagnosis. The charity also provides invaluable advice, financial assistance, and workshops for parents, annually supporting more than 150 families.
One mother, Rachel, shared how Springboard has been a "steady, reassuring presence" for her and her daughter Effie. Facing challenges with mainstream nurseries, she found a safe and inclusive space where Effie's unique needs were accommodated and celebrated. This steadfast support has empowered families, ensuring children with SEND can thrive.
Ann Pritchard, a co-founder, reflected on the charity's beginnings, highlighting the commitment of its staff, volunteers, trustees, and fundraisers. She expressed gratitude to all who have contributed to Springboard's ongoing success and impact over the past 40 years.
