Governor Orders Special Exams for Parade Participants
20 Dec
Summary
- Universities will hold special exams for NCC cadets missing regular tests.
- Cadets missed exams due to Republic Day parade preparations and participation.
- Governor directed universities to amend regulations for special examinations.

Universities in the state have been directed by Governor Arif Mohammed Khan to conduct special examinations for NCC cadets. These cadets were unable to appear for their regular semester examinations because of their involvement in the Republic Day parade preparations and participation in New Delhi. The governor's directive, issued on Saturday, follows a proposal approved in accordance with a UGC letter from November 30, 2021.
The decision ensures that the academic careers of NCC cadets are not jeopardized by their patriotic service. Previously, around a dozen cadets from Patna and other universities faced difficulties when university authorities were unresponsive to their requests for later examination dates after their Republic Day camp commitments.
Students, led by the Patna University Students' Union president, successfully petitioned the chancellor. The governor's prompt action includes directing necessary amendments to existing university ordinances and regulations, establishing a precedent for future Republic Day contingents.
