Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Amritanand Devteerth, head of Sharda Sarvagya Peetham in Kashmir, inaugurated a significant joint annual conference on 'Second Urbanisation' on Friday. This event commemorates the 75th anniversary of the esteemed Lucknow School of Anthropology, originating from Lucknow University's anthropology department. The conference is organized in collaboration with multiple national scholarly societies.
More than 50 academics from across the country are participating in the 3-day gathering. The 'Second Urbanisation' theme delves into a critical phase of Indian history around the 6th century BCE, characterized by the emergence of cities, extensive trade networks, specialized crafts, and the development of political centers, especially in the Gangetic plains.
