On August 15th, schools across the city were filled with patriotic spirit as India celebrated its 80th Independence Day. Vibrant programs brought together students, teachers, and the wider school communities.
At Don Bosco School, Panbazar, the national flag was unfurled by chief guest Devajyoti Hazarika, a former Guwahati Municipal Corporation commissioner. Following a parade inspection and salute from scout and NCC contingents, Hazarika encouraged students to value their freedom and national duties. The principal reflected on the sacrifices made for India's independence.
South Point School marked the occasion with retired Wing Commanders Pranjal Pratim Borgohain and Dr. Juri Borgohain as chief guests. The celebrations included a flag hoisting, national anthem, and a march-past by NCC cadets and scout teams, accompanied by a brass band. Students showcased their talents through songs, a chorus, and dance. A chess competition was also inaugurated to promote critical thinking and sportsmanship.
