14 Jun
Summary
- Children perform annual musical after building safety closure.
- School relocated temporarily but pupils are back for the show.
- Repairs ongoing; upper floor remains closed, future moves planned.

Children at Nazareth House Primary School in Londonderry have demonstrated incredible resilience by successfully staging their annual musical, 'Oliver Junior.' The school faced significant disruption when it was forced to close between December 2025 and February 2026 due to unsafe structural damage to its roof.
Pupils and staff were temporarily relocated to St Anne's Primary School while urgent repairs were undertaken. Although the roof has been temporarily fixed, the building's upper floor remains out of use, affecting several classrooms and a music room. Future plans involve a move to temporary facilities at Lumen Christi College next year.
Despite these challenges, the school community rallied together, ensuring the production of 'Oliver Junior' could proceed. Principal Róisín Blackery praised the collective effort as a "powerful celebration of resilience, determination and community." The children's passion and talent have been highlighted as central to this inspiring achievement.
