School Honors Beloved Teacher with Football-Themed Fundraiser

Nidderdale High School has launched a heartfelt fundraising campaign to honor the memory of Tim Connors, a cherished teacher who passed away from cancer last year. Connors taught at the school for over two decades, leaving a significant impact on students and staff alike. To commemorate his legacy, the school organized a non-uniform day where everyone dressed in the claret and blue colors of Burnley FC, Connors' favorite football club.

The initiative, named "22 Days for Mr Connors," is an ambitious effort to raise £22,000. These funds will be used to construct an outdoor seating area at the school, a space envisioned to reflect Connors' love for the outdoors. The campaign will feature various activities aligned with his interests, including cake sales, sports matches, and a challenging climb of the Yorkshire Three Peaks. Year 11 students will also undertake a 38-mile relay, mirroring the distance between Nidderdale and Burnley.

Beyond fundraising, the campaign aims to celebrate Connors' vibrant personality and multifaceted contributions. He was known for his warmth, dedication, and for introducing key school initiatives like the house system and wellbeing activities. His watercolour paintings are still displayed around the school, a constant reminder of his artistic influence. The legacy he created extends beyond the school walls, with local businesses also contributing to the fund.
