Abused Wife Becomes IAS Officer Against All Odds

Savitri Pradhan's life story exemplifies extraordinary resilience, showcasing success independent of comfort or opportunity. Married at a young age and a mother of two, she endured significant abuse and violence, eventually fleeing her home with no support. Despite these profound challenges, she rose to achieve the prestigious position of an IAS officer.

Born into poverty in Madhya Pradesh, Savitri's early education was marked by hardship, including walking miles to school due to irregular transport and unaffordable fares. Her life took a difficult turn upon marriage into an affluent family, where she faced inhumane treatment, starvation, and relentless physical abuse. A moment of realization came when she understood no one would rescue her from this hellish situation.

After escaping her in-laws' home, Savitri found refuge and support, enabling her to pursue education while working and raising her children. She completed her graduation and post-graduation amidst struggles. Even during her MA exams, she faced abuse from her husband. Inspired by the UPSE exam notification and the prospect of ending her and her children's miseries, she decided to prepare for it.

Savitri cleared the UPSE exam in her first attempt, becoming an IAS officer. However, her husband continued to harass her. With the support of a senior police officer, she finally confronted and reported his abusive behavior, realizing the mistake of silently enduring injustice. Savitri Pradhan now stands as an inspiration, urging women not to tolerate abuse and demonstrating the power of hard work and determination.
