Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) member Sangeeta Arya submitted her resignation on Friday, with sources confirming its receipt. This development closely follows the resignation of another RPSC member, Manju Sharma, on September 3. Both resignations are understood to be a consequence of sharp remarks from the Rajasthan High Court concerning the 2021 sub-inspector recruitment examination, which was annulled due to alleged mass paper leaks.
The high court had indicated the involvement of multiple RPSC members in malpractices for personal gain. Arya and Sharma had contested these remarks by filing separate petitions, which are still pending. Arya's appointment was in October 2020, and she was set to retire in October 2026.
Arya was also summoned by the Anti-Corruption Bureau earlier this month regarding an Executive Officer recruitment exam bribery investigation. Despite these resignations, RPSC secretary Ramniwas Mehta stated that commission operations, including upcoming RAS-2024 interviews scheduled for December, would not be disrupted due to the remaining members.
