This gymnasium transcends its athletic purpose, offering a comfortable indoor venue for the entire school to convene and providing seating for up to 1,500 spectators. Architect Jason Takeuchi's design incorporates unique elements like a concrete exterior pattern resembling sharkskin and a Kalwall panel system that allows natural light, symbolizing local heritage.
Beyond student activities, the facility is engineered to function as an Enhanced Hurricane Protection Area, providing a vital shelter option for the community during emergencies. DOE Superintendent Keith Hayashi highlighted its dual role as an athletic centerpiece and a crucial community resource, reinforcing school pride and safety.
