In the spring of 2024, as Paramount began pulling back its funding for the Save the Music nonprofit, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame stepped in to provide a lifeline. John Sykes, the Hall of Fame's foundation chairman, saw the partnership as a "perfect fit" to leverage the organization's powerful platform and support from top artists.
With a $1 million grant and the promise of Hall of Fame inductees like Sheryl Crow and pop stars like Harry Styles and Olivia Rodrigo engaging with students, the Hall of Fame announced its collaboration with Save the Music on October 28, 2025. The goal is to help fund the nonprofit's dozens of programs that have donated nearly $78 million worth of instruments and tech equipment to 2,800 U.S. schools over the years.
Save the Music's executive director, Henry Donahue, says the organization has been fortunate to find new sources of funding, including TikTok, Meta, Amazon, and top promoters Live Nation and AEG Presents, as well as a $2 million grant from MacKenzie Scott, to fill the gap left by Paramount's reduced support. The partnership with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is expected to take the nonprofit's music education efforts "to a whole new level."
