A government school in Jodhawas village, Rajasthan, saw a partial roof collapse on Thursday, August 13, triggering a student protest. The students, who had long sought infrastructure improvements, gathered to demand action.
Following the protest, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka engaged with students, and authorities subsequently accepted their demands. The District Education Officer confirmed that unsafe rooms would be replaced, with three new rooms promised under the VB-G Ram G Mission and a proposal for four more sent to the state government.
Repairs for all classrooms are expected within a week, with seven new rooms to be prepared in three months. A playground is also planned. Additionally, the school faces issues with vacant teaching posts, with no principal and several Grade II posts unfilled.
Authorities have also assured repairs to toilets within 15 days and improvements to road connectivity, including making a culvert motorable within 48 hours and building a bridge in four months. An RO-filtered drinking water facility is also promised. This incident highlights broader infrastructure challenges, as a state survey found over 85,000 schools in Rajasthan with poor facilities.
