Rajasthan Exams: Years of Wait After Flawed Questions
20 Jun
Summary
- 137 questions were dropped from Rajasthan exams in 2024-25 due to errors.
- Deleting questions redistributes marks, altering candidate rankings significantly.
- A 2021 teacher recruitment was cancelled twice, affecting 1,300 appointed candidates.

Young aspirants in Rajasthan encounter prolonged challenges post-government recruitment exams, with results often delayed by months or years due to deleted questions, revised merit lists, and legal disputes. During 2024-25, the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board and Public Service Commission removed 137 flawed questions from various examinations. The deletion of questions significantly alters rankings as marks are redistributed, affecting candidate merit.
The Grade III Teacher Recruitment 2025 saw the highest number of deletions with 36 questions removed. Other affected recruitments include Junior Accountant 2023 (23 questions) and LDC 2024 (14 questions). The Rajasthan Public Service Commission also deleted questions across multiple exams, including School Lecturer and Assistant Engineer recruitments.
The controversy is particularly visible in teacher recruitment. Following the June 15, 2026 declaration of results for the Teacher Recruitment Examination, 11 Level 1 and 25 Level 2 questions were deleted. This has led to further legal challenges, with candidates contesting the validity of seven more questions. The 2021 Teacher Recruitment was notably cancelled twice before its 2022 completion, and subsequent litigation in May 2026 led to the removal of 1,300 appointed candidates based on flawed questions.
RSMSSB Chairman Alok Raj acknowledged the lapses, stating responsibility lies with the Board and that action has been taken against faulty question paper setters. Reforms are underway to improve the question paper preparation process. However, candidates continue to bear the brunt of these errors through delayed appointments and prolonged uncertainty.
