Punjab's educational institutions are enhancing their anti-drug efforts with a new framework implemented by the Department of Higher Education. Teachers from 146 government and government-aided colleges across the state have received specialized training as nodal officers for drug prevention, a key component of the "War Against Drugs" campaign.
From December 18 to 20, 2025, one-day workshops were conducted in SAS Nagar (Mohali), bringing together faculty from 23 districts. These sessions, led by clinical psychologists and mental health experts, aimed to sensitize participants to issues like youth stress and the consequences of drug abuse.
The training emphasized scientific and empathetic methods for supporting students facing addiction or mental health challenges. The initiative empowers colleges to play a proactive role in fostering a drug-free environment, addressing not just substance abuse but also the associated social stigma and ignorance.
