MBBS Seats Ready by 2026: Health Minister Orders Action

Minister for Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav has issued a directive to expedite the completion of the Government Medical College in Piduguralla. The goal is to facilitate admissions for 100 MBBS seats starting from the 2026-27 academic year.
During a review meeting on March 23, 2026, the Minister emphasized the urgency of the recruitment process, setting an end-of-April deadline. This initiative is vital for the operational readiness of the college, which is a significant project costing ₹450 crore and is being funded with ₹195 crore from the Union government.
Further instructions were given to ensure the construction of the college, its teaching hospital, nursing college, and student hostels are completed by May 15. A team, led by Health Secretary Saurabh Gaur, is scheduled to visit the site on March 25 to assess progress.
