Medical College Sends Seniors Home to Stop Ragging
6 Oct
Summary
- Senior students sent on 15-day leave to prevent ragging.
- Classes for junior batches suspended from September 28 to October 12.
- A 2022 misconduct case led to the college's strict action.
Maharana Pratap Govt Medical College in Pali has instituted a novel strategy to combat ragging and safeguard incoming students. Senior students have been sent on a 15-day leave, from September 28 to October 12, and are prohibited from accessing college grounds.
This preventive measure, enacted as a fresh MBBS batch arrives, stems from a 2022 misconduct incident. Following an inquiry, 48 students received suspensions and temporary hostel expulsions. The college aims to foster a welcoming atmosphere for newcomers without undue pressure.
While senior students are restricted from physical campus presence, they are expected to attend theory classes online and fulfill hospital duties. However, hostel restrictions have prompted many to seek external accommodation. The college emphasizes this aligns with Supreme Court and national medical commission directives.
