Nursery Admissions: 1,700+ Schools Release Lists Amidst Parent Anxiety
24 Jan
Summary
- Over 1,700 schools released first lists for nursery admissions.
- Waiting lists are significantly longer than selection lists.
- Admission process involves strict deadlines and document verification.

The 2026-27 nursery admission cycle is well underway, with over 1,700 private unaided schools in New Delhi issuing their first lists of selected students. These lists include both confirmed admissions and waiting-list candidates for entry-level classes.
Schools are currently contacting parents of selected students to complete admission formalities within specified timelines. Many institutions have established on-campus help desks to assist parents navigating the largely online process. Waiting lists are proving to be exceptionally long, with some schools reporting more than double the number of waitlisted candidates compared to selected ones.
The admission timeline outlines critical dates for grievance redressal regarding the first list from January 24 to February 3. If seats remain unfilled, a second list and its associated waiting list will be released on February 9. Further lists might be issued on March 5, with the entire admission process scheduled to conclude by March 19.
