Noida Schools Slip: New Officers Appointed to Boost Learning
14 Sep
Summary
- Noida's educational performance dropped to 70th due to vacant education officer positions.
- Only 29% of government schools met NIPUN status in the recent assessment.
- New Block Education Officers appointed to monitor schools and support teachers.
Noida's district administration has appointed Block Education Officers (BEOs) in Jewar, Dadri, and Dankaur, filling critical vacancies that had hampered school monitoring. The district's performance in the NIPUN Bharat Mission dropped to 70th in the 2025-26 annual assessment.
Previously, only about 29% of government schools in the district met NIPUN status. This marked a substantial decrease from the previous year, when 87% achieved the benchmark for foundational literacy and numeracy. Dedicated BEOs are expected to enhance the review of student proficiency in language and mathematics.
These three blocks, along with Bisrakh, serve approximately 80,000 students but were managed by a single BEO, making regular school inspections and follow-ups challenging. The shortage affected monitoring of teacher attendance, classroom activities, and scheme implementation.
The newly appointed BEOs will now oversee their respective blocks to streamline scheme implementation and monitoring. This move is anticipated to improve education quality and learning outcomes. The department also plans a village-level program, 'Shiksha Chaupal,' to involve parents and teachers in improving education.
