Scholarship Deadline Extended for Students!

The Ministry of Education has extended the application deadline for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) to October 31, 2026. This extension aims to give students additional time for submission and facilitate timely verification by relevant authorities. The scheme supports meritorious students from economically weaker sections from Class 9 to Class 12. One lakh fresh scholarships are awarded annually to eligible Class 9 students. The scholarship is renewable for Classes 10 to 12, provided academic criteria are met. Students studying in government, government-aided, or local body schools receive Rs 12,000 per annum, disbursed directly via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). To be eligible, students need at least 55% in Class 7 (5% relaxation for SC/ST) and their parents' annual income should not exceed Rs 3.50 lakh. The application process is ongoing on the National Scholarship Portal, with revised verification deadlines set for November 15 and November 30, 2026.
