NMC Adds 4,201 New PG Medical Seats for 2025-26

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced the approval of 4,201 new postgraduate medical seats across private medical colleges for the upcoming 2025-26 academic session. These additions are all within Broad Specialities, significantly expanding the available opportunities for aspiring doctors.
With this substantial increase, the total number of postgraduate seats in private institutions now stands at 7,324, a notable rise from the previous 3,123 seats. The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has uploaded the consolidated list of approved seats, assuring stakeholders that counselling can proceed using this list even before formal Letters of Permission (LOPs) are issued.
Karnataka emerges as the state with the most newly approved seats, accounting for 712, followed closely by Uttar Pradesh with 613. Other states like Tamil Nadu and Telangana also see considerable additions, highlighting a nationwide effort to bolster medical education infrastructure. This expansion aims to address the growing demand for specialized medical professionals.
