On October 16, 2025, the Karnataka State Dr Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University organized a gold and silver medal distribution ceremony for students of five certificate courses conducted by its affiliated institution, Nadabrahma Hamsalekha Desi Vidyasamsthe, located in Bengaluru.
The event was inaugurated by the university's Vice-Chancellor, Nagesh V Bettakote, who congratulated the medal-winning students and encouraged them to continue pursuing their artistic talents with dedication. Music director Hamsalekha, the founder of the Desi Vidyasamsthe, and the institution's principal, Latha Hamsalekha, were also present at the ceremony.
In his remarks, Hamsalekha praised the university's efforts in expanding its artistic and cultural influence across the state, and for nurturing the performing arts through its affiliated centers. The event featured performances by the students of Hamsalekha Desi Vidyasamsthe, who showcased their skills in Idani music, film and light music, as well as classical Carnatic compositions.
The university's focus on promoting traditional and modern music education is seen as a significant contribution to the state's cultural landscape.
