Mumbai University has introduced an innovative Apprenticeship Embedded B.E. Degree Programme designed to equip engineering students with practical industry experience. This initiative, aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, allows selected final-year students to undertake a one-year apprenticeship during their seventh and eighth semesters.
The program requires students to complete at least 1,260 hours of practical training, earning 42 academic credits. Eligibility is restricted to top-performing students with a minimum CGPA of 6.75 by the end of their fifth semester, with selection prioritizing higher CGPA. Students in Honours or Research programs are ineligible.
This embedded apprenticeship focuses on developing key professional skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management. The goal is to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and the practical demands of the professional engineering world, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for future challenges.
