Summary
- Michael Jordan funded a $1 million multimedia center for students.
- The center provides hands-on experience in digital storytelling.
- Content created at the center has garnered over 1 million views.
The Morehouse Multimedia Center, established through a $1 million commitment from Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand in May 2021, officially opened its doors on September 23, 2026. Situated within the Journalism in Sports, Culture, and Social Justice department, the center provides students with practical experience in digital storytelling, sports broadcasting, podcasting, and filmmaking.
Students have already benefited from the center's resources, with content produced using its equipment amassing over 1 million social media views in August 2026. The training offered has also contributed to a student interview winning a regional student Emmy. The facility itself includes a modular production studio, editing bays, and approximately $250,000 worth of equipment, with its establishment supported by filmmaker and alumnus Spike Lee.
The journalism and sports program at Morehouse, co-founded in 2007, now has a strong practical complement in the new center. This initiative, part of Jordan Brand's Black Community Commitment, aims to bridge critical thinking with professional practice, preparing nearly 120 alumni already working in media and sports for future success.
