The Maharashtra State Primary Teachers' Committee has expressed grave concerns regarding the difficulty level and structure of the state scholarship examination conducted recently. Committee members highlighted that numerous questions in both language and mathematics sections were found to be excessively challenging for Class 5 students, surpassing their cognitive capabilities and the prescribed syllabus. This disparity reportedly led to heightened anxiety and diminished self-assurance among the young examinees.
In response, the teachers' body has submitted a formal representation to the Maharashtra State Examination Council. They cited examples of lengthy reading passages and multi-step mathematical problems requiring advanced reasoning skills. The council chairman acknowledged the feedback, stating that while immediate changes to the conducted exam are impossible, they will review the concerns. He emphasized that the exam's difficulty was uniform, and any impact on scores would affect all participants.
