The Maharashtra Class 12 Chemistry examination, conducted on February 18, is currently under police investigation following allegations of a paper leak. The suspected leak surfaced in Nagpur when a student was caught using a mobile phone to cheat at an examination center.
Invigilators became suspicious of the student's frequent trips to the washroom. Upon seizing the phone, officials discovered the question paper had been shared on a WhatsApp group prior to the exam. Possible answers were also reportedly exchanged.
Based on the apprehended student's statement, another pupil is now being questioned by authorities. Initial investigations indicate that an individual associated with a private coaching institute may have been involved in distributing the paper for monetary gain.
A case has been formally registered at the Sadar Police Station, and the investigation is actively ongoing. Over 13 lakh students are participating in the Maharashtra Class 12 examinations, which commenced on February 10 and are scheduled to conclude on March 11, 2026.
