Lynette Carisa Brown, a dedicated fifth-grade teacher at Glendale Elementary School, passed away on March 2 following a nearly two-year struggle with cancer. She was 54 years old. Brown's journey with cancer began unexpectedly in June 2024 during a routine gallbladder removal, when surgeons discovered stage-four gallbladder cancer.
With a distinguished 31-year career in education within the Princeton City School District, Brown served in various roles, including principal of Heritage Hill Elementary. In spring 2024, she was recognized as one of Cincinnati's Teachers of the Year by the Adopt A Class Foundation. Her classrooms were highly sought after, with waiting lists of parents eager for their children to learn under her guidance.
Beyond her professional achievements, Brown was deeply committed to fostering opportunities for young professionals, especially Black and minority men. She organized career days, inviting professionals from diverse fields to inspire students to broaden their aspirations. Her passion for service was also evident in her active involvement with Citygate Church and her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha.
Brown is remembered for her strength, dignity, and unwavering faith. She is survived by her husband, Benjamin, their 11-year-old son, Isaac, and five sisters. Services were scheduled for March 13 and 14, with donations requested for the Letteria Dalton Scholarship Fund in lieu of flowers.
