Winter Chill: Ludhiana Students Brave Cold Without Uniforms

As winter grips Ludhiana, a significant number of students in government schools are facing freezing temperatures without adequate winter uniforms. Educators highlight that boys from general and below poverty line (BPL) categories, along with young pre-primary students, are particularly affected. These children are reportedly attending classes in casual clothing unsuitable for the cold, as the promised uniform supplies have not reached many institutions.

This delay is not an isolated incident, with teachers pointing out it's a recurring issue. Pre-primary students, from nursery to UKG, have not received their uniforms this academic year. While girls and students from Scheduled Caste categories often receive uniforms on time, boys from general and BPL categories experience significant delays, with uniforms sometimes arriving too late in the academic year to be of practical use before exams.

Officials acknowledge the issue and have stated that uniforms are distributed through school management committees. While some schools have received their supplies, investigations are reportedly ongoing for those still awaiting them. The delay raises questions about the efficiency of the distribution system and the practical benefit of uniforms when the academic session is nearing its end.
