Singh has been honored for her significant research on the responses of C4 plants, particularly maize, to the phytotoxic air pollutant ozone, and its interactive effects under changing climatic conditions, especially rising atmospheric carbon dioxide. Her work has provided valuable insights into the impact of environmental stressors on important crop species, which is crucial for understanding and mitigating the challenges posed by climate change.
