Lincoln School to Be Demolished and Rebuilt
26 Feb
Summary
- Lincoln Castle Academy will be demolished and rebuilt.
- The new school will be carbon-neutral with a three-story block.
- The school will remain open during the extensive construction.

Lincoln Castle Academy, a 900-pupil secondary school located in Lincoln, is scheduled for demolition and rebuilding as part of a government initiative to replace aging facilities. The project will introduce a new carbon-neutral, three-storey teaching block, a separate sports hall, and an outdoor games area. Mobile classrooms will be used on the playing field to accommodate students throughout the construction, which will proceed block by block.
The decision to rebuild was prompted by the school's poor condition, identified as a priority for urgent replacement to ensure a safe and modern educational environment. The adjoining Yarborough Leisure Centre will be unaffected, and its existing sports hall will eventually be transferred to the council for public use. Planning permission for the redevelopment was unanimously approved by City of Lincoln Council.
