Leicestershire Needs Crossing Guards: Help Keep Kids Safe!

Leicestershire County Council is appealing for new recruits to fill 32 vacant school crossing patrol officer positions. These crucial roles, formerly known as lollipop men and women, are essential for ensuring the safety of pupils traveling to and from school.

Transport officials emphasized the importance of these positions, highlighting that the council aims to protect students by filling the existing vacancies. The role, while demanding due to the need to work in all weather conditions throughout the year, is considered incredibly rewarding.

Existing crossing patrol officers, some with an impressive 30 to 50 years of experience, recently attended an event organized by the council to thank them for their service. They shared positive experiences, emphasizing the joy and fulfillment derived from ensuring children's safe passage to school and interacting with the community.
