Karnataka Exam Scam? Candidate's Score Soars Mysteriously
29 Oct
Summary
- Candidate's score jumped from 25 to 151 marks in recruitment exam.
- An investigation was ordered due to social media concerns.
- A police complaint may be filed if irregularities are confirmed.
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has launched an investigation into a suspicious score increase in a recent recruitment examination. A candidate from Haveri district, who reportedly scored 25 marks in a previous police constable exam, achieved 151 marks in the village administrative officer recruitment test. This anomaly, first highlighted on social media, prompted KEA to order a comprehensive review of the examination process.
Haveri's Deputy Commissioner, acting as the district chief examination superintendent, has been tasked with scrutinizing CCTV footage and thoroughly investigating the examination centre. The candidate, Shankar Bannur, took the test on October 4 at a Shiggaon centre. While facial recognition and his OMR sheet confirmed his participation and the correctness of his answers, KEA noted a modification in his application data regarding a prior examination he allegedly passed in 2026, a future date.
Administration officials confirmed receipt of KEA's directive and are preparing a detailed report. Depending on the investigation's findings, a police complaint may be lodged to address potential corruption in the recruitment process.
