Government school students throughout Jharkhand became storytellers as part of the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) reading campaign, "Mere Shabd, Meri Kahani." The recent "Humari Kahani, Humare Shabdon Mein" activity invited children to write narratives drawing from their experiences, imaginations, and cultural backgrounds.
Organized in 853 schools, the event engaged 56,616 students, 879 teachers, and 406 officials. Its core objective was to nurture creative expression and improve literacy skills by connecting lessons to students' lives, encouraging observation and self-expression. Teachers noted active participation from even shy students.
Selected stories from this initiative will be published in a collection. The campaign will continue with "Kahani Ki Duniya," inviting community members to share folk tales, further strengthening oral storytelling traditions and community involvement.
