Jadavpur University Enforces Strict 8 PM Campus Curfew

Jadavpur University has introduced new regulations, stipulating that any person on campus without legitimate reason after 8 PM will be considered a trespasser, facing potential legal action. This directive aims to enforce discipline and bolster campus security, particularly following recent incidents of assault and vandalism. Only evening course students, possessing valid identification, will be permitted on campus until 9:30 PM.

Further restrictions prohibit student gatherings after 8 PM, except for evening classes, with exceptions for fests and student activities, which should ideally conclude by 9 PM. The acting registrar emphasized that these measures are crucial for student and faculty safety. Security personnel are responsible for controlling entry and exit points. Additionally, the university is reviewing graffiti and posters on heritage structures like Aurobindo Bhavan.
