Disability Grace Marks Extended to Intellectual Disabilities
12 Aug
Summary
- Students with intellectual disability now receive grace marks.
- This benefit matches concessions for other disability categories.
- A 40% or more permanent disability is required for eligibility.

The state government has extended the benefit of grace marks to students with intellectual disability, aligning their examination support with other disability categories. Students with a permanent disability of 40% or more are now eligible for grace marks equivalent to 25% of the maximum marks in each theory paper for examinations conducted by the Controller of Technical Examinations.
This update follows a recommendation by the Director of Technical Education. Previously, while students with intellectual disability received concessions like scribes or readers, they were not granted the 25% grace marks available to individuals with other disabilities such as cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, blindness, hearing impairment, mental challenges, and specific learning disabilities. Eligibility will be confirmed via a disability certificate issued by a medical board.
