Summary
- IIM Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and Calcutta dropped significantly in QS 2027 MBA rankings.

- India's representation expanded, with 19 B-schools ranked, up from seven in 2022.
India's leading MBA programs experienced a notable downturn in the QS 2027 rankings, with IIM Bangalore, IIM Ahmedabad, and IIM Calcutta all falling in global standing. IIM Bangalore slipped to 64th from 52nd, IIM Ahmedabad to 70th from 58th, and IIM Calcutta saw the sharpest decline, dropping to 95th from 64th.
This decline is attributed to global peers improving in key metrics such as entrepreneurship, alumni outcomes, return on investment, and diversity. While IIM Ahmedabad retained a top 100 spot for Entrepreneurship & Alumni Outcomes, and IIM Bangalore maintained a strong employability ranking, the overall trend indicates a widening gap with international competitors.
Despite the individual drops, India's broader representation in the rankings has grown substantially, with 19 Indian MBA providers listed in 2027, up from seven in 2022. This expansion includes five new entrants, signaling a growing international reputation for more Indian business schools. Woxsen School of Business notably ranked first in Asia for diversity.
