Microsoft Powers India's AI Vocational Training

India's Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is launching a major AI education initiative for its vocational training system. In partnership with Microsoft, the 'Microsoft Elevate WAVE' program will provide AI curriculum and certifications to 200,000 students across more than 1,000 government ITIs and NSTIs nationwide. This collaboration seeks to equip students with vital AI skills for the modern workforce.
The initiative includes advanced micro-degrees and industry-specific AI courses, with an aim to connect students to approximately 30,000 job opportunities. Microsoft has committed to skilling 20 million people in AI by 2030 in India. The program will also upskill 2,500 educators, enhancing AI delivery in classrooms.
Implementation partners Edunet Foundation and Tata STRIVE will manage the large-scale training and industry linkages. Corporate partners from various sectors will contribute to shaping the curriculum and providing internships, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for technology-driven roles.
