The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta has introduced a significant policy shift, enabling MBA students to pursue entrepreneurial ventures without losing access to campus placements. This innovative framework, announced by Director Alok Kumar Rai, is designed to encourage student innovation while maintaining a safety net for career stability.
Under the new guidelines, students who opt to defer placements for up to a year to develop their startups will have the option to rejoin the placement process in the subsequent year. This offers aspiring founders a second chance to balance their risk-taking ambitions with career security. The initiative aims to create a more dynamic and supportive environment for burgeoning entrepreneurs within the academic setting.
The institute also welcomed its 63rd MBA batch, comprising 480 students with a diverse academic and professional background. The ceremony also highlighted industry partnerships, including the continuation of the Adani Accelerated Leadership Programme, which offers scholarships to meritorious students.
