Haryana Exam Fiasco: Thousands Fail, Posts Remain Vacant

A significant crisis has emerged from the Haryana Public Service Commission's assistant professor exam in English, where less than 10% of candidates successfully passed. This has led to a substantial number of advertised posts, over 75%, remaining unfilled. The results have triggered widespread protests across the state, with many accomplished scholars, including PhD holders and UGC-NET/JRF awardees, failing to meet even the basic 35% qualifying mark.

The Haryana Public Service Commission has attributed the low pass rate to weak written skills in the descriptive test format introduced recently. However, candidates have rejected this, pointing to their strong performance in earlier screening tests. Concerns over transparency have intensified due to the denial of access to answer sheets from the descriptive round, fueling suspicions about the fairness of the evaluation. Additionally, there are claims that a majority of selected candidates are from outside Haryana, raising questions about state representation.

In response to the mounting unrest, Haryana's Chief Minister has urged aggrieved students to approach him directly, assuring that any proven discrepancies will be investigated. While he stated that no cheating occurred, the situation highlights deep-seated concerns regarding the examination and assessment process within the state's public service commission, impacting numerous qualified aspirants.
