Hampi Kannada University is set to host its 34th Nudihabba-Ghatikotsava, a significant literary festival and convocation, on February 24 in Vijayanagara. During this event, three notable achievers will be conferred with honorary 'Nadoja' doctorates. These esteemed recipients include Prof G Ramakrishna for literature and thought, researcher Prof C Mahadevappa, and Prof HC Satyan for social service.
The convocation ceremony will also celebrate the academic achievements of 107 PhD students. These degrees will be awarded by Higher Education Minister MC Sudhakar, with students graduating in language, social sciences, and fine arts departments. The university, founded on the principle of creating knowledge, has expanded its reach, attracting many students from rural backgrounds and diverse communities, including scheduled castes and tribes.
Significant research output from the university includes studies on marginalized groups such as neglected primitive tribes, women, Dalits, farmers, and folk traditions. Notably, research has shed light on communities like the Mukri tribe in Uttara Kannada, documented by CP Shivachandra, who hails from the tribe itself.
