A comprehensive safety review of 170 government schools in Gurgaon has revealed a significant safety concern, with 525 rooms classified as condemned or in poor condition. These affected schools are located across the Farrukhnagar, Gurgaon, Pataudi, and Sohna blocks.
The review categorized schools based on the status of their unsafe rooms. Thirty-two schools have already taken action by demolishing problematic rooms or structures. Furthermore, 29 schools have been formally declared condemned, and an additional 48 are awaiting this formal declaration.
While 19 schools reported all rooms as safe, the status of affected structures in 42 schools remains pending due to unreceived required files. A tendering process is planned to remove condemned structures, followed by the construction of new classrooms and buildings.
