Goa Students Document Village Biodiversity

Students in Goa have taken the initiative to document the biodiversity of Sal village, creating a comprehensive booklet. This project, spearheaded by the Govt Primary School at Kholpe, involved students actively collecting information during field visits about the local wildlife, sacred groves, trees, and water bodies. The goal is to foster a deep connection with nature and establish a biodiversity register to promote conservation efforts and local awareness.

This educational endeavor also includes supplementary activities such as plantation drives, bird and butterfly watching, and anti-plastic campaigns, aligning with national educational goals. Sal village, known for its agro-horticultural richness and unique eco-theological traditions, features folk deities historically linked to indigenous tree species that have protected its natural resources for generations. This register will serve as a valuable resource for researchers studying the region's ecological significance.
