Girls Dominate AP Medical Admissions
7 Feb
Summary
- Girls secured over 76% of dental seats and 60% of MBBS seats.
- AYUSH programs saw girls fill between 76.17% and 85% of seats.
- This trend mirrors admissions from the previous academic year.

In the 2025-26 undergraduate admissions for medical courses in Andhra Pradesh, girls have secured a majority of seats. Analysis from Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences reveals girls achieved over 76% of the 1,519 Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) seats and more than 60% of the MBBS seats. This strong performance also extended to Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) programs, where their enrollment ranged from 76.17% to 85%.
The trend of female dominance in medical education mirrors that of the 2024-25 academic year. Officials suggest early preparation from school days contributes to this pattern. The university noted that girls who did not secure MBBS seats often opted for BDS or AYUSH courses. Furthermore, a similar surge in female enrollment is currently being observed in the ongoing postgraduate admissions in the state.
