Educational institutions across Ghaziabad, including schools, colleges, universities, and madrasas, will observe a closure from August 4 to August 12. This decision was made by the District School Inspector to ensure student safety amid the ongoing Kanwar Yatra and the expected influx of pilgrims.
The extended closure covers all schools from Nursery to Class 12, encompassing institutions affiliated with the Basic Education Council, Secondary Education Council, CBSE, ICSE, and the Madrasa Board. This measure is in response to the significant movement of Kanwariyas through the district during the Shravan month, leading up to Shravan Shivratri on August 11.
Colleges and universities are also included in this directive, with government and private institutions set to remain shut. However, a key exception allows for the continuation of already scheduled examinations, provided their timetables were finalized before the closure order was issued on August 3, 2026.
Ghaziabad is not alone in this decision, as neighbouring districts like Meerut and Muzaffarnagar have also ordered similar closures for their educational institutions. These administrative actions aim to manage traffic and ensure the safety of pilgrims, residents, and students during this period.
