19 Aug
Summary
- Students receive GCSE results on Thursday, August 21st.
- Results available online via the Education Record app at 11am.
- Grade boundaries vary by exam board and are published on results day.

Students across the UK are set to receive their GCSE results this Thursday, August 21st, 2026. The Department of Education encourages pupils to collect their results in person from schools, where they can discuss their next steps with teachers. For the first time, results will also be accessible online through the Education Record app at 11 am, though school collections will precede this update.
Exam boards including AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR, CCEA, and WJEC will publish official grade boundaries on results day, as these are not fixed annually. In England, GCSEs are graded from 9 (highest) down to 1, with Grade 4 considered a standard pass, equivalent to a former Grade C. Students scoring below a Grade 3 in maths or English language must continue studying these subjects.
Resit opportunities are available, with maths and English resits offered in November by AQA and Pearson Edexcel. Resits for other subjects are scheduled for May or June next year. Many institutions offer free resits for grades below a 4, while independent resits or those for higher grades may incur charges ranging from £75 to £500.
